We at E.L. Harvey & Sons, Inc.
are committed to being a key player in
our industry. We have the expertise to
help implement a strong successful waste
reduction program. Recycling is an integral
part of the handling and reduction of
a company’s waste stream.
Our staff meets regularly
with both federal
and state officials
to offer testimony
and expertise regarding
the laws and regulations that govern recycling and
waste handling. Members of our organization have
been involved with the actual writing
of the Massachusetts
Solid Waste Plan and the associated regulations,
and we are constantly updated on new
rules and regulations.
While we do not always agree with the decisions made
by our officials, we do believe it is in our best
interest and that of our customers'
to keep communications open with the
many governmental agencies.
Our company enjoys
good working relations
with mills and
paper dealers throughout
the world. Because
we
operate our own transfer station and paper packing
facility here in Westborough, it is important that
we remain in daily contact with all markets. We pledge
to offer our customers the benefit of our knowledge
and experience in all matters relating to their waste-handling

of the information destruction industry. Its members
are companies and individuals involved in providing information
destruction services. NAID's mission is to educate business,

NSWMA is a trade association representing for-profit
companies in North America that provide solid, hazardous
and medical waste collection, recycling and disposal
services, and companies that provide professional and
consulting services to the waste services industry. |

Waste Association of North America (SWANA)
For over 40 years, the Solid Waste Association of North
America has been the leading professional association
in the solid waste field. Our association serves over
7,200 members throughout North America, and thousands
more with conferences, certifications, publications,
and technical training courses. |

Institute
of Scrap Paper Industries Inc. (ISRI)
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI)
is the “Voice of the Recycling Industry.” With
21 chapters nationwide and headquarters in Washington,
D.C., ISRI represents more than 1,200 companies that
process, broker, and consume scrap commodities, including
metals, paper, plastics, glass, rubber, electronics,
and textiles. The Institute provides education, advocacy,
and compliance training, and promotes public awareness
of the value and importance of recycling to the production
of the world’s goods and services. |

The
Massachusetts Recycling Coalition (MassRecycle)
MassRecycle, founded in 1989, was organized in response
to a need for statewide advocacy to establish recycling
programs. Its founders and early members recognized that
widespread recycling would help to conserve natural resources,
energy, landfill space and open space. More recently,
recycling has been recognized as an essential component
of any comprehensive strategy to reduce greenhouse emissions.
The economic benefits of recycling have become evident
by the over 60,000 recycling jobs calling for unskilled
laborers to engineers, and the estimated $600 million
that recycling contributes to the Massachusetts economy. |

WasteCap
of Massachusetts
WasteCap of Massachusetts is the statewide, non-profit,
public/private partnership working with the business
community to develop and implement cost-effective programs
for recycling, buying recycled, reuse, and waste reduction.
Massachusetts businesses generate 55% of all municipal
solid waste in the Commonwealth. WasteCap strives to
minimize this environmental impact by providing free,
voluntary programs to the private sector on recycling
and waste reduction. Our staff members answer hundreds
of technical assistance calls, promote services offered
by innovative recycling and waste management firms in
the Commonwealth, conduct site visits, and develop business
recycling partnerships. |

Industry Association (EIA) EIA Chairmen’s
Council
EIA represents companies and individuals who manage solid
and medical wastes; manufacture and distribute waste
equipment; and provide environmental management, consulting
and pollution-prevention-related services. Services are
provided to members through the National Solid Wastes
Management Association (NSWMA) and the Waste Equipment
Technology Association (WASTEC). |

Industry Association (EIA) Women’s
Council
To benefit the waste industry, the EIA Women’s
Council works for the professional advancement of women
through meaningful and useful education, assistance,
support, and mentoring. |

National
Recycling Coalition (NRC)
Founded in 1978, the National Recycling Coalition, Inc.
(NRC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization representing
all the diverse interests committed to the common goal
of maximizing recycling to achieve the benefits of resource
conservation, solid waste reduction, environmental protection,
energy conservation and social and economic development.
Its 4,000 members include recycling and environmental
organizations; large and small businesses; federal, state
and local governments; and individuals. The Coalition,
based in Washington, D.C., provides technical education,
disseminates public information on selected recycling
issues, shapes public and private policy on recycling
and operates programs that encourage recycling markets
and economic development. |
